MEET PRSA AUSTIN CHAPTER MEMBER: KATRINA JACK-TRIBBLE

NAME: Katrina Jack-Tribble

CURRENT LIVELIHOOD: I am a Training Officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs and President of POW PR, www.pow-pr.com.

CHILDHOOD AMBITION:  Growing up, I always wanted to be a teacher. I come from a family full of educators.

DRAW TO THE COMMUNICATIONS FIELD: I guess I would say that I love to talk. I’ve learned in the communications industry, there's no prescription to ensure success. And often, the answer depends on who you talk to, your long-term career goals, and the many variables that affect an individual's lifestyle. I made the switch from education to public relations because I’ve worked on high profile projects and initiatives that were very rewarding to me. So, the transition was both rewarding and natural for me.

HOMETOWN: I am from Louisiana, but currently live in Central Texas. I am a U.S. Army veteran, so I have lived in numerous places.

MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE AS A COMMUNICATIONS PROFESSIONAL: I love helping people create their brand. The nonprofit organizations I’ve worked with trusted me with their vision and in return I was able to help contribute to their social responsibility.

FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT AUSTIN AND FAVORITE AUSTIN RESTAURANTS: I love the funky thrift stores, great live music venues, and outdoor recreation. My favorite place is Zilker Park, because I can go hiking. I have so many favorite restaurants, but I would narrow it down to just one... Chez Nous Restaurant.
