About the Organization: The Texas Cultural Trust is a statewide arts advocacy organization that promotes the importance of the arts to our state’s economy and children’s education. The Trust is committed to being the leading voice for the arts in education, advocacy, and economic impact in Texas, spotlighting the artistic excellence of our state. We have various programs, events, and initiatives that fall into two main buckets: The economic impact of the arts; and the impact of arts education. These programs include (in no particular order): • Texas Women for the Arts • Arts & Digital Literacy Initiative • Texas Young Masters • Texas Medal of Arts Awards • Art Can Texas
Job Description:

This is a paid internship that allows for the right candidate to have hands-on, real experience in a variety of marketing, communications, public relations, and social media duties. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the arts. Regular duties, projects, and tasks include, but are not limited to: • Helping execute overall communication plan for various programs and initiatives • Sourcing, creating, and disseminating social media content for the Trust’s various online accounts across multiple platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) • Writing press releases for various Trust programs, initiatives, and events • Maintaining and updating the Trust’s media contact database • Acting as a liaison between the Trust’s various employees and outside vendors on events and initiatives • Managing a key letter writing legislative campaign aimed at highlighting the impact of the arts in each district across the state of Texas • Working to promoting the Arts & Digital Literacy Initiative to both education and technology sectors • Assisting with event planning duties such as media, VIP wrangling, and social media • Pitch stories to media (depending on level experience), as well as helping to coordinate and follow up, including op-eds, interviews, radio, and television appearances • Managing editorial calendar • Ensuring vendors are paid in a timely fashion • Assisting in creation of marketing collateral • Coordinating deliverables in a timely fashion, including mail outs and traditional ads • Other administrative duties, as directed by communications director

Candidate Qualifications:

Public relations major with at least one relevant internship under their belt Excellent written and verbal communications skills Strong knowledge of a variety of social media platforms and metrics Experience with Adobe Photoshop, website maintenance, and other design programs a plus, but not necessary Interest in the arts and or advocacy/government affairs a plus

How to Apply: Hours/Salary/Location We are flexible and work around school hours. The Trust is requesting a commitment of 12-20 hours per week, with more time required leading up to and during special events. This internship pays $10 per hour and parking is not included.
