Post-Uber Austin: How a Local Startup Launched Fast to Fill an Immediate Need
Join us for the July Happy Hour at Black Finn Pub in The Domain on Thursday, July 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. for a discussion about how a local startup pulled off a lightning-fast launch for post-Uber Austin.
Joe Deshotel of RideAustin will discuss how they are safely filling an immediate need and enriching the Austin community. Joe will expand on his experiences managing communications for a fast-paced startup in the wake of a heated debate, navigating the tensions of engaging very different - and often opposing - audiences, and how his experiences leading communications for the Travis County Democratic Party prepared him for the challenge of launching RideAustin.

Joe Deshotel is spearheading RideAustin’s efforts to fill the gap of ridesharing in Austin post-Prop 1. RideAustin seeks to safely improve our transportation infrastructure and directly supports dozens of our local non-profits. Prior to RideAustin, Joe was the communications director of the Travis County Democratic Party, a congressional aide and a Texas state legislative aid, and a key political contributor for KBTV-FOX in his hometown of Beaumont.
