PRSA August Masters Class: Effectively Managing a Crisis When You’re in the Hot Seat
For PR and communications professionals, crisis responses have the potential to make or break public trust and opinion. In some cases, the well-being of the public is dependent on effective communication. It’s imperative that we know how to plan for crises and execute on response strategies in order to protect both the public and the organization.
Join Austin PRSA for the August Masters Class with Allison Castle, former Communications Director and Press Secretary for Governor Rick Perry, on Aug. 30 to discuss Crisis Management Strategy for Communications and PR Leaders. Her experience spans across multiple facets of crisis communication from severe weather outbreaks, to Supreme Court and Appeals Court decisions, and management issues that cross the desks of Texas government and nonprofits daily.
Allison will discuss:
- Making your case for giving communications leaders a seat at the decision table
- Selecting your strongest go-to team experts
- Tips on how to remain calm in crisis scenarios in order to deliver significant results
- How to effectively put a proactive crisis communications plan in place so you can respond quickly in an emergency
Allison Castle’s no-nonsense style works well with strategic communications and effective policy making. Her career spans business, government, nonprofits and politics, including six+ years directly advising Texas Governor Rick Perry as press secretary and communications director, where she helped establish Texas as a biotech hub and gained coverage for economic development to bring global corporations and jobs.
