PRSA AUSTIN ANNOUNCES 2019 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Board aims to support communications professionals’ development, be a voice for the industry and mentor students as they start their careers

AUSTIN (January 23, 2019) -- Under the leadership of chapter President Amelia Folkes, APR the 2019 Board of the Public Relations Society of America Austin Chapter (PRSA Austin) began its term Jan. 1, 2019. Folkes will lead a Board of volunteer professionals to ensure the organization delivers engaging professional development, networking opportunities, supports students entering the field and serves as a voice for the industry.

“The field of communications is ever evolving and with that comes a responsibility of all communications professional to continue to learn and connect with their industry peers,” said Folkes, “The 2019 PRSA Austin Board is a talented group of communication leaders who aim to deliver helpful resources for seasoned executives, mid-career managers, and those who are new to the profession.”

Folkes earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2016, has worked as a communications professional for more than 15 years, been a member of PRSA for 10 years. She is committed to build a diverse and inclusive profession and supporting professionals to make ethics-based decisions in their daily practice.

Executive board members serve as the governing body of the Board of Directors and provide leadership and governance to the Chapter, as well as represent Austin to the national organization. The 2019 PRSA Austin Chapter Executive Board includes the following:

• President: Amelia Folkes, APR, Emerson Automation Solutions

• President-elect: Michelle Hargis, Cooksey Communications

• Immediate Past President: Amanda Kennedy, Hahn Public Relations

• Ethics Director (Director-at-large): Erin Dufner, Better Business Bureau

• Vice President of Communications (Director-at-large): Dianne Foletto, Round Rock ISD

• Vice President of Professional Development (Director-at-large): Jenna Oltersdorf, Snack Box

• Assembly Delegate, Larry Springer, APR

• Treasurer: Jo Detavernier, SCMP, APR, Swyft

They are joined by a Board of Directors that includes:
